Osha Root (Liquid Herb)

$89.25

Osha Root (Ligusticum porteri)  is a mountain plant native to western North America. It grows in the mountain ranges of Idaho and Wyoming and the northwest regions of Mexico. Osha is a member of the carrot family and is also known as wild parsnip, Porter's Lovage, and wild celery. While there are twelve types of Ligusticum species, only Porteri is recognized as "true" Osha.

Due to its known antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, indigenous people have used Osha Root medicinally for centuries to support the body's response to a variety of respiratory and digestive concerns. Because it has long been known to promote healthy lungs, those traveling to high altitudes or endurance training often turn to Osha to enhance their breathing.

Osha Root has various constituents with unique health-supporting properties, including alkaloids, phthalides, furanocoumarins, terpenoids, and phenolic compounds. Ligustilide is one of the major constituents of Ligusticum porteri root and is responsible for its characteristic aroma.Osha Root has been shown in scientific studies to:

  • Support a healthy immune response

  • Provide antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity

  • Help maintain healthy respiratory function
